My mom and dad had slides of me playing basket-ball in my high school years. For the life of me, I never knew why they didn't get pictures made, but instead, they converted the film to slides. They gave me the box of slides when I moved out of their house years ago, and I put them in my attic. I've moved several times since then because of my job, and the box of slides went with me. The last move (because of my work) was from Columbus, Ohio to Boulder Colorado. We bought a beautiful house by the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and started to move in.
I found my old box of slides and was very curious to see what they would look like on my computer system. I didn't have time to scan them myself, so I sent them to a company that could SCAN SLIDES to DIGITAL photos. So I packed up the slides and sent them away, and while I was unpacking, the scanning company was doing their job converting my slides to pictures.
Two weeks later I got everything moved into my new home, and my slides arrived back from the company. I opened them up and found a DVD along with my slides. I put my box of slides away in storage and plopped the DVD in my laptop and looked at my old pictures of me playing basket-ball for my high school team. It was great!
I called my parents up and sent a few pictures their way via e-mail - they called back and we started talking about the good 'ole times about me in high school and me playing sports. I have to admit (and risking at sounding cheezy), these pictures brough me and my parents closer. Amazing what a few old pictures can do!
